Sample Drum Kit Installs

Drum sample kits are available for Kontakt, Logic EXS24, Reason NN-XT (Reason Refill), Pro Tools Structure and Garageband. Our drum kits use the general midi standard drum map, with additional samples on keys above or below the GM area. Drum samples were laid out very close to the General MIDI map as to make auditioning and using the kits as user friendly as possibly. The few places we took the liberty to deviate from the GM mapping would be the left-right snares and some value-added hats, etc., in the lower registers on some kits. Even then we stayed true to things people have likely used before such as the hat chokes in the lower register adhering to the standard Roland E-Drum layout.

Each sample library features multi-velocity layers on each drum element and as many as nine different snare drums. Audio samples were recorded in the same sessions and on the same drums as sister audio loop volumes. The mixes of the kits were kept as close as possible to our popular audio drum loops so they can be used in the same projects.

Installation instructions:

General Midi loops for use with DOD kits are located in the Supplemental Mapping folders, GM folder. If the loops have been optimized for a specific DOD kit, there will be a DOD folder, so use those, not the ones in the GM folder.

Kit-specific notes:

All kits: Scan the keyboard for additional sample above and below the GM keys.

Nothing But Brushes Kit: DrumWorks2 snare has 6 velocities L and R. Drumsworks1, Ludwig Wood and Noble and Cooley have only 4 velocities, left hit only. The latter are snares that match our "Nothing But Brushes" audio loop volume.

Basic DOD Kit: LoopMatch Sn1, LoopMatch Sn2 etc. are snares used in Mixed Bag i, Mixed Bag II, Country N Crossover and Ballads & Slow Grooves audio loop volumes. Other snares may or may not match, but have much deeper L and R velocities. Use the latter unless you are trying to match snares in those audio loops volumes.

Groove Monkee MIDI Loop Notes

You will generally want to use the MIDI files inside the Single Track folder.

  • Great app! I’m really lkoiong forward to the updates. The big question is What will people use it for? Composing? Editing? Mixing and mastering?I would be happy to use it as a composing/recording app and then export everything onto a PC for editing and mixing. It stores tracks as RAW format which is OK for this. You can export a track by muting all the other ones and mixing down. You can also bounce tracks like this, but it would be nice to have Export and Bounce as menu options.I agree with Tracy. Punch-in/out is really essential. I don’t know any recording musicians who don’t use it.If you give us any editing functions we really need a bigger zoom. I find it impossible to locate an exact point in time. The way I like to compose, it would be nice if I could place several wave files on the same track and drag them around or resize them but I guess that’s a totally different object model.Keep up the good work guys!
