What format is best is based on a variety of variables. For more detailed info, click on the FAQ link above.
Cakewalk & Acid : Unless you are already recording in 24-bit, we recommend 16-bit WAV.
Cubase, Nuendo: Please see the complete details listed on our FAQ page.
Digital Performer: See FAQ page.
GarageBand: Apple Loops
Logic: See FAQ page.
Propellerheads Programs: REX2
Pro Tools 6.x and Lower: For Macs we recommend 24-Bit WAV; For PC-based systems, it dependent on whether your sound card supports 16-bit or 24-bit WAV files. *Note: For Pro Tools 7, we recommend REX2 at this time.
Ableton Live: 16- or 24-bit WAV depending on your sound card and/or system.
Adobe Audition: 16-bit WAV unless you know your soundcard supports 24-bit.
Fruity Loops: 16-bit WAV
DAWs: (Roland, Yamaha, etc.): Unless you know your DAW supports 24-bit, then we recommend the 16-bit WAV. Pretty much any DAW made in recent years will read 16-bit WAV files.
